The Technical Audit: Why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Bat-Swing Faces a Structural Test in Manchester
A Rajasthan Royals teammate casts doubt on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's style ahead of the Manchester T20I. Inside the technical analysis of his bat-swing.
It has always been my experience that choosing the "All-Time XI" is a one that requires more discussion than consensus. However, when an iconic modern-day player such as Jos Buttler announces his selection and the world of cricket stops to pay attention. It is no secret that Buttler is an absolute force within the Indian Premier League and has recently continued his dominance in his team the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 season. The move is causing a storm of discussions on social media However, the England superstar announced his team for the 2026 season taking the risk to cut out the five-time winning captain Rohit Sharma for others who are legends.

The Shocking Omission: Why Rohit Sharma Missed Out
It is clear the reason why the removal of Rohit Sharma caused shock waves through fans. It is well-known that Rohit is among the best athletes and the most influential players throughout the history of the tournament. But, Jos Buttler has chosen a unique opener that emphasized pure, unadulterated aggression as well as historic consistency on top of the list. I observed it was evident that Buttler had a difficult time with many of these options however his decision is a reflection of a team that was built to have maximum impact from the beginning.
Instead of playing the "Hitman," Buttler was paired with a ex- Mumbai Indians teammate He chose to play against the dominance of Chris Gayle. I'm convinced that this decision reflects Buttler's choice of an "fear factor" at the beginning of an innings.
The Non-Negotiable Captain: MS Dhoni Leads the Pack
The opening slot in the first place was controversial, the selection as captain was just the opposite. Jos Buttler has been quick to announce MS Dhoni as his captain and wicketkeeper for his team. I believe we all be in agreement with the fact that the Dhoni's inclusion should be a given on any list. We all know that his strategic acumen and finishing capability are a matter of legend. Buttler stated his role as captain "non-negotiable" for this dream team.
Captain & Keeper: MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)
Opening Pair: Jos Buttler and Chris Gayle
Middle-Order Spine: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers
All-Round Power: Ravindra Jadeja and Kieron Pollard
Analyzing the Squad: Tactical Balance and Bowling Firepower
From the perspective of a professional analyst The performance of the XI is alarming. In putting Virat Kohli as third position in the order of three and AB de Villiers at number four, Buttler has found a middle line which is able to adapt to the circumstances. It is possible to see this squad succeeding in achieving any goal and especially with the closing three consisting of Pollard, Jadeja And Dhoni and Jadeja waiting on the sidelines.
The bowling team is also impressive, with the master and apprentice team from the Mumbai Indians. I was impressed to see That Buttler took the most cricketers in the history of the league to make sure that no batter gets into a rhythm.

Expert Insight: The Tactical Omission of "Mr. IPL"
It is crucial to mention the fact that Rohit Sharma was not the only legend that was missing. We know that Suresh Raina who is frequently referred to "Mr. IPL" for his incredible consistency, too did not make it to the final cut. It is evident the fact that Buttler's XI is heavily influenced by players that can alter an entire game in just one over. As the likes of Raina or Rohit are able to provide stability and leadership This team was designed for modern, high-octane T20 aggressiveness.
According to me, this choice reflects the current changes in the game. Although IPL 2026 is in which we will see promising young players such as Abhishek Sharma as well as Vaibhav Saoryavanshi leading the pack however, the tradition of players such as Malinga or De Villiers remains the benchmark. Buttler has basically created an "Super Team" that values the highest performance above longevity by itself.
No matter if you're in the camp of the decision to snub Rohit Sharma or otherwise, you can't doubt the excellence of the names listed on this list. In the midst of an IPL 2026 season continues to create new legends, these eleven names remain the standard for any aspiring cricketer around the world at present.
