A Rajasthan Royals teammate casts doubt on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's style ahead of the Manchester T20I. Inside the technical analysis of his bat-swing.
I've seen a lot of tactics in my life and the way Punjab Kings handled the pressure from Sunrisers Hyderabad was absolutely something you should watch. It is well-known that this IPL2026 season is set to be among the most intense yet and the latest win of six wickets is a strong signal to the remainder of the team. The signature of the director Ricky Ponting across the entire victory, and especially how the team remained composed when faced with a high stakes chase.

Ricky Ponting and the Punjab Kings Renaissance
It's interesting to observe the way Ricky Ponting changed the mindset of the PBS dugout. After the game, Ponting did not hesitate to praise for the "never-say-die" attitude of his team. It is well-known that Punjab Kings have been a bit inconsistent in the past However, under the storied Aussie's direction, they're in search of ways to win even out of difficult places.
My opinion is that the biggest outcome of this win was the tactical discipline demonstrated in the middle of overs. Ricky Ponting pointed out that the team was not panicked as the rate required climbed. It is evident that this mental shift has made a difference in the present PBKS team from the previous versions. The players aren't playing just cricket. They are following an extremely stressful blueprint Ponting has infused at the start in the IPL 2026 campaign.
Tactical Breakdown: How PBKS Outclassed SRH
From an analysis perspective of a professional The win against Sunrisers Hyderabad was the result of better match-reading. It seems to me that the decision to prioritize wickets during the powerplay marked the pivotal moment. We all know that Punjab Kings has a heavily top-heavy batsman line-up, and by restricting their initial momentum, Punjab Kings put the middle order in dangerous area.
Shreyas Iyer's Captaincy His bowling variations were careful, assuring that Shreyas Iyer batters didn't have a chance to settle down against the same pace or spin.
Middle-Order Resilience After just a couple of wickets, the stable middle partnership ensured that the chase would remain in control.
Death Bowling excellence: Arshdeep Singh and his pace team performed flawless yorkers and thwarted an early-inning surge by Sunrisers.

Professional Perspective: Shreyas Iyer Leading from the Front
It is my opinion that we should consider the implications on the impact of Shreyas Iyer's. We all know that captaincy within IPL IPL can be stressful however, Iyer appears to be flourishing under the stress. It is evident that his partnership and that of Ricky Ponting produces amazing outcomes. I think the presence of a captain that can keep the innings in place while controlling the fielding requirements can be an "X-factor" that Punjab Kings have been lacking over the many years.
When playing against the SRH, Shreyas Iyer performed the job of the stabilizer flawlessly. When the power players at the other side took chances, he made sure that the scoreboard remained moving. This balance between aggressiveness and sanity is precisely the kind of thing Ricky Ponting has been praising during his post-match remarks.
Looking Ahead in IPL 2026
This win could be just the beginning of the PBKS. The point table is already becoming overcrowded. However, after three victories in a row and a 3-0 record, they are the Kings are the team to be beat. The mood in the locker room is up to a new high. Ricky Ponting said his belief that "fightback" wasn't just about the one game it was a longer-term plan for the team.
The Six-wicket triumph against Sunrisers Hyderabad is an indicator of the development of the team. It doesn't matter if it's the skill that of Ricky Ponting or the off-field performance of Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings have finally become one team. It is likely that we will see more "Ponting-style" victories as the IPL 2026 season approaches the conclusion of the season.
